All matters pertaining to the pulpit and it's music are of concern
to the Pulpit & Music committee. This committee is constantly critiquing the
service to best make it a meaningful & spiritual experience for all our

religious & secular needs of our temple members. Therefore we deal in the weekly

The Religious
School Committee
Temple Israel has every reason to be proud of the Religious
School. Enrollment has increase to 263 students, including 52 children
consecrated Simchat Torah Services. Director of Education, David Woolfe,
leads a strong faculty. Our clergy is also closely involved with the
school, conducting weekly junior congregation services for our 5th -
7th grade students and teaching during classroom visits.
The
Religious School Committee utilizes Parental Involvement creating a "Parent
Association" with Chairpersons overseeing different areas. Knowledge of
Hebrew, Bible, Ethics, Liturgy, Holidays and History continue to be the
foundation of our curriculum and our commitment to our students and families.
In addition, this year we included art, music and library in the program.
Other special programs, such as Book Fair, Latke Bake, the Purim Carnival and
the Mitzvah Fair, and fundraisers such as the Nosh Nook, (the school store) gets
everyone, young and old, involved in the religious school.

Youth Activities

There were approximately twenty scheduled events throughout the school year
averaging to once a month for the third and fourth graders and once a month for
the fifth and sixth graders. These events, after discussion and conference
with David Woolfe, were started in the last half-hour of Hebrew School and
carried over after class. This allowed for maximum participation and
allowed parents to view the events scheduled when they came to pick-up their
child. Events were tailored to accommodate both Sunday/Wednesday and
Monday/Thursday groups. Events are coordinated to track specific holidays
as well as just social events.
General events scheduled included tie
dying "T" shirts and white socks, Israel food and pen pal day; movie/pizza day;
make your own Sunday day, bingo, Purim carnival, decoration events and make your
own Chanukah menorah event.

Caring:
The Caring Committee’s role is to provide support to our members
who have suffered a tragic event in their lives, are isolated due to age and or
health limitations, and to be there for those who need the touch of another to
help them through difficult times. The strength of this committee will be in its
ability to make people feel connected to the temple through the committee
